Pass the EmPIRE Act!

Corporations and billionaires steal over $3 billion/year from New York workers. Unscrupulous employers break labor laws because they know the state doesn’t have enough resources to hold them accountable. With Trump and Elon Musk now at the helm of power, deep cuts and mass layoffs have hit the federal Department of Labor across at least six departments, hamstringing their ability to enforce labor laws and stand against exploitative employers and corporations.

The EmPIRE Act is New York’s best defense against Trump’s onslaught on labor.

While Trump moves quickly to gut labor rights nationwide, the EmPIRE Worker Protection Act (S448/A4278) makes New York a national leader in meaningfully protecting workers against wage theft.  Join us in calling on New York’s leaders to to side with labor and working families and pass the EmPIRE Act.

The EmPIRE Act:

  • Gives unions and workers legal firepower to sue wage thieves directly and fast.
  • Generates $103 million/year to fund NYSDOL’s labor enforcement
  • Protects all workers from employer retaliation
